Productivity can equal a good healthy Income – if it is carried out in an efficient way. What do I mean by that. Well if you think that Busy Work is productivity then you are overloading your circuits and robbing yourself of time. Busy work is all the tasks that you think you should get done ‘before’ you get into the ‘real’ work…
Being Strategically Productive increases your efficiency and it can also increase your income. Let me say that again – It Can Increase Your Income! The problem is that most people get it all wrong.
Steve Jobs famously said this about his daily routine: “For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘no’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
What would be the answer to that question for you? What would you want to do today?
Performing Busy Work will just get you caught up in a never ending circle of “I’ll get to it soon” – and most people are in that never ending circle. Instead of moving forward and increasing our business and income, busy work leaves us feeling drained, exhausted and unrewarded for the effort you just put in.
How you start each morning sets the quality for your perfect day. What you do or don’t do directly controls how productive you are and how energetic you feel as the week goes on. How successful will you be as a business owner, an entrepreneur?
It doesn’t matter how early you wake up, how much water you drink, or how intense you workout – what is going to stop your productivity are time-wasters, busy work, work that can be put to the end of the to-do-list, work that somebody else can do for you. Are you structuring your day like a business owner or like an employee of a business? Your expertise is what makes your business successful – not doing busy work – work that is hampering and blocking your road to success.
Time-wasters and busy work can be quite obvious to you – like spending too long on Twitter, getting caught in a Facebook messaging rabbit hole, or lingering over just one more cup of tea or coffee. They can also be less obvious to you, like write, your quick trip to the supermarket or store, and indulging too long and at the wrong time in social media.
Most people say they get caught up and de-energized by that general work stuff and there are the bigger administrative tasks – they say that they struggle with delegating. They say they feel those ‘busy tasks’ are super important but they feel exhausted and caught in that same hamster-wheel they did yesterday. You’re never going to be more productive if you keep wasting time on things that other people learned to outsource a long time ago.
This is your opportunity to turn things around – instead of getting more things done you should strive to getting the right things done. Focus on your business that will move you forward into your future.
What does your website, your blogsite look like – is it looking professional, is it promoting you as an ‘expert in your field’, is it making you look like an authority? If not, why not? This is why I’ve developed my Ready Set Program – this program will help you keep on track, it will pinpoint the areas you need to have right on your sites.
Sometimes referred to as “busywork” that doesn’t drive revenue or results for your business. This ‘busywork’ is robbing you of a good healthy income and is leaving you unrewarded for your efforts.
It’s now time to focus your efforts on those tasks that will benefit and grow your business. Check out my Ready Set Go Program now and get out of that Hamster-Wheel, create your day the way you want it and propel your business into your future.
How Productivity Can Generate Income
Whether you work for yourself or a larger organization, there are three ways this kind of improved productivity leads to more income and a greater impact.
1. The Faster The Better
The first way to increase value is easy – just increase the speed you deliver the kind of value people are willing to pay for.
Successful people know everybody is impatient. A person who didn’t recognize that they wanted your product or service until today, now wants it yesterday. People recognize a direct association between speed and the value of your offer.
2. Offer Better Quality
The second key to creating wealth is by offering better quality than your competitors at the same price.
Total quality management can best be defined as: “Finding out what your customer wants and giving it to him or her faster than your competitors.”
3. Add Value
The third way that you can become wealthy is by looking for ways to add value to everything you do.
You can add value to a product or service by improving the packaging or the design. You can increase its value by making it easier to use and operate.
Apple transformed the entire world of computers by making them easy to use for the unsophisticated person.
Efficiency Equals Income
All three of these reasons add up to greater income. Increasing your income creates an opportunity to share and invest in the lives of others.
More income for you means more assistance for others, new jobs for people, and new products and services. Non Productive work on the other hand—no matter much we do or how fast we do it—deprives yourself and others by lessening your impact.
When we increase our income, everyone stands to win because you are contributing, giving, offering and helping others move forward in their lives.
Question: What would be possible in your business if you were finally free to focus on the work that matters most? Where could you be in 3 months, 6 months, 12 months time if you strategically moved your business forward fast? What could you achieve in this time if you were strategic, productive and all of that ‘busy work’ just got out of your way?
It’s time to stop and it’s time to start having your day, week, month and year the way you envisaged it in your dream of having a profitable, enjoyable business.
