Blogging properly crucial for businesses in 2018
With about 2 million blog posts written worldwide each day, knowing how to blog properly will be crucial for businesses in 2018.
Gold Coast author/ speaker Patricia Laverty, of Patricia Laverty Mentoring, will be running Blogging for Profit workshops across Australia from January to March 2018 to support the Sanctuary for Life dog rescue service.
She said on average, buyers needed six points of contact from a business before they decided to engage that business.
“This is where blogging becomes so powerful,” Ms Laverty said.
“It is a fantastic way to build rapport and gain trust with your customer. If you want more sales, you need to be producing more quality content.”
She said a good blog would attract quality leads and can have a huge impact on business.
She said three blogging trends that people could take advantage of in 2018 were to plan a strategy, do ‘super’ (longer) blogs and use video.
According to Orbit Media’s latest report, it would take the average blogger nine hours and 45 minutes to write a 3000-word blog post.
“If you publish a few posts a week, blogging becomes a full-time job however it doesn’t need to be,” Ms Laverty said.
“Once you know how to blog properly, it becomes a joy and is very simple. It should take no more than 3 hours.”
Ms Laverty’s system for how to blog properly includes firstly, choosing an attractive topic. Next step is to break down your topic into sub topics and then share a story.
For example, if you are in the skincare business, what are the three major things people should know about skincare? These could be ensuring products are not tested on animals, have natural or organic ingredients and knowing where the materials are sourced.
In fact, the humane treatment of animals is something dear to Ms Laverty and she will be running her Blogging for Profit workshops to support Sanctuary for Life, which is a dog rescue service run by Donna Bailey in Brisbane.
“I’ve had dogs all my life and often if they are in the hands of the wrong people, they have no voice or anyone to help them. Way too many are abused and neglected and Sanctuary for Life does a great job rescuing and re-homing dogs in need,” she said.
The Blogging for Profit Workshop will be in Melbourne on January 13; on the Gold Coast on February 10 and Sydney on March 3.
